Faith to Overcome

He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.
Can you hear what the Spirit is telling you? I’ve heard many people say that the book of Revelation isn’t for the Church. I believe this to be far from the truth though. At the very least, chapters 1 to 3 are specifically addressed to the Church, be it the seven churches in Asia (Rev. 1:11), but we are all one body (1 Cor. 12:13). Meaning, that the warnings and blessings in Revelation 2 and 3 are pertinent for us as well. Also, Revelation is the only book of the Bible that says you are blessed for reading, hearing, and keeping the words which are in it (Rev. 1:3).
Through chapters 2 and 3, the churches are told that if they overcome, there will be a reward. This would entail that there is an option to not overcome, meaning lose your salvation. This loss of salvation is not my topic for this blog though. I want to focus on the rewards granted to those that do overcome. You will see that the rewards clearly align with salvation and the promises given to those that believe.
Why focus on these rewards? The rewards are something not talked about very much. People think that if we do things for rewards, that the idea of the reward would take away from the sincerity of the act. This is not what God says though.
But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
To please God we must believe in him and believe that he is a rewarder for those that seek him. The rewards are something that we should focus on and they are promises that should give us strength to overcome. We are in the end times, and I do believe that we will be delivered through, not out of, tribulation. So hold onto your belief in God and his beautiful rewards that he has planned for us if we have the faith to overcome.
For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.
Overcome and be rewarded with:
Eating of the tree of life (Rev. 2:7)
Not being hurt by the second death (Rev. 2:11)
Eating of the hidden manna (Rev. 2:17)
A white stone with a new name (Rev. 2:17)
Power over nations (Rev. 2:26)
The morning star (Rev. 2:28)
White raiment (Rev. 3:5)
Not getting blotted out of the book of life (Rev. 3:5)
Your name being confessed before the Father (Rev. 3:5)
Becoming a pillar in the temple of God (Rev. 3:12)
The name of God, his city, and Jesus’ new name written upon you (Rev. 3:12)
Sitting on Christ’s throne with him (Rev. 3:21)
