Where do Your Beliefs Come From?

Our blogs and podcasts challenge mainstream beliefs and are meant to get one to think about what they believe and why. We use logic and the truth of the Bible to come to our beliefs. The question is, do you do the same.

If you have read our blogs and/or listened to our podcasts and have disagreed with something we said, do you know why. Is it because you don’t want to change what you believe? Is it because you obtained your belief from a pastor/teacher that you respect? Is it through a study of your own. Even if you agree with us, the same initial question should be answered, “do you know why.”

In our discussions with other Christians including pastors, we have found many do not know why they believe what they do. Their answer is that is what someone more knowledgeable than me taught me. Or, that is what the Bible says even though they haven’t studied, let alone read, that particular subject.

Another extremely important question is, do you want to believe the truth. Do you want what the Bible says, God’s word, to form your beliefs or do you want to read the Bible in a way that supports what you already believe? We have also found in our discussions that some people are so locked into their beliefs that they only interpret the Bible in a manner that fits with those beliefs no matter how wrong and illogical that interpretation may be.

We hope that if you’re reading our blogs and listening to our podcasts you are looking for the truth of the Bible and have an open mind and thirst to believe God’s word over man’s. That includes us. 2 Timothy 2:15 “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.”
